BlueTooth is the technology which enables seamless voice and data connections between wide ranges of devices such as mobile to mobile, mobile to computer, and vise versa through short-range digital two-way radio. It is an open specification for short-range communications of data and voice between both mobile to mobile and mobile to stationary devices. Bluetooth is a wireless protocol that is used to communicate from one device to another in a small area usually less than 30 feet. The primary advantage of Bluetooth Technology is that it uses the 2.4 GHz Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) spectrum to communicate which is freely available in most of the countries. Bluetooth Technology allows the communication between two devices at a rate of 1 megabit connection between 2 devices for both a voice channel and a 768K data channel.
Prior to Bluetooth technology the only way to connect two devices such as a mobile phone to mobile phone or mobile phone to a computer or computer to computer was either via cables or infrared, both of these technologies had their own limitations. The first generation of Bluetooth permits the user to exchange data upto 1 megabits per second; even in areas which have very high amount of electromagnetic disturbance. It transmits and receives via a short-range radio link using a globally available frequency spectrum of 2.4 GHz.
Bluetooth Specifications define a short (around 10 meters) or optionally a medium range (around 100 meters) radio link capable of transmitting data as well as voice up to a maximum capacity of 720 Kb/s per channel.
Bluetooth technology is a low-cost radio solution providing links between computers, mobile phones, other peripheral devices and portable handheld devices, bluetooth can also be used for connectivity to the internet. Bluetooth eliminates the need to buy or carry cables for connectivity.
For the Bluetooth technology to work tiny microchips (incorporating a radio transceiver) are built into digital devices to make wireless connections between two devices.
Bluetooth is a short-range radio technology which is aimed to simplify communications between mobile devices and the internet. It is also aimed to simplify data synchronization between net devices and other computers. Products which have the Bluetooth technology inbuilt in them must be qualified and should pass interoperability testing by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group prior to there release.
Bluetooth depends on mobile devices equipped with a chip for sending and receiving information.
Since the past few years numerous devices for home, personal and business use have been presented in the market, however no widespread technology has been presented to address the needs of connecting personal devices in Personal Area Networks (PANs). Bluetooth technology fills in this important need for wireless communication. The ability to communicate both voice and data using wireless channel, which uses a standard low-power, low-cost technology that can be integrated in all kinds of devices for enablement of total mobility.
Bluetooth is a standard developed by a group of electronics manufacturers that allows any sort of electronic equipment - from computers and cell phones to keyboards and headphones - to make its own connections, without wires, cables or any direct action from a user.
Bluetooth is intended to be a standard that works at two levels:
• Bluetooth works of radio-frequency standard – i.e. it provides agreement at the physical level.
• Bluetooth technology can agree on when bits are sent, how many will be sent at a time and how the parties in a conversation can be sure that the message received is the same as the message sent.
